Joy (18) and Sam (14) are finally going on a trip with their father, and they’re heading to the Sun Dance in the Crow Reservation in Montana, USA. They are children of divorce, living with their mother, and haven’t seen their father in a long time. During the drive through Utah, the Rocky Mountains, and Yellowstone Park, they learn a lot about colonial history, the suffering of Native Americans, and the difference between an indigenous way of life and their lives in Europe. The experiences during the Sun Dance and the encounter with such a different culture particularly open their senses and ultimately their hearts to a completely different perception of their surroundings, which Europeans mistakenly call the environment. How important, even meaningful, is the separation of people from this universal community into a nuclear family, which is also becoming smaller? In the end, Joy discovers the universal language.
