Family policy is gaining importance in more and more cities, districts, and municipalities. Similarly, the family policy strategies of the federal and state governments are increasingly focusing on the local level. Holger Wunderlich examines the framework conditions under which family policy is currently being implemented at the municipal level. It becomes evident that the structural and communicative organization of municipalities is not yet sufficiently oriented towards addressing family policy issues. The author identifies strategies and concrete approaches that can optimize family policy structures and processes and promote sustainable family policy at the local level.
