The aim of this textbook is to provide students with an interdisciplinary approach to the topic of family and to expand their knowledge and perception of family forms, familial socialization processes, family development, family relationships, and family issues. Families hold a significant place in the lives of every individual: they are the central institution of primary socialization and the environment in which children grow up. They serve as a reference point in everyday life and are called upon to provide care, support, and assistance for dependent, sick, disabled, impoverished, or elderly relatives. When the family system is unable to fulfill its functions and responsibilities adequately, social work and various institutions within the societal and social system become necessary.
