Author Information

Dr. Kevin Passmore is a lecturer in history at Cardiff University. His book "The Right in the Third Republic" was published by OUP in November 2012. Since the release of the Very Short Introduction in 2002, he has continued to publish extensively on fascism, as well as writing about the history of the social sciences and historical writing.

Blurb

Fascism is notoriously difficult to define. In this new edition of the Very Short Introduction, Kevin Passmore unravels the paradoxes of one of the most significant phenomena of the modern world to understand its ideology and place in contemporary society.

Summary

What is fascism? Is it revolutionary? Or is it reactionary? Can it be both? Fascism is notoriously hard to define. How do we understand an ideology that appeals to both street fighters and intellectuals? That is openly macho.
