Cannabis is the most commonly consumed illegal drug in Germany: around two million - mostly young - German citizens regularly smoke joints, and more than a quarter of regular users are dependent. However, cannabis can also relieve pain, which is why the federal government has decided to legalize cannabis as a prescription medication. There is no shortage of hemp, as German drug growers increasingly cultivate it with the help of Dutch middlemen and Vietnamese gardeners on illegal large plantations in Germany. Greenhouse cultivation significantly increases the active ingredient content of the plants, making the so-called "soft drugs" stronger. This book provides an overview of hemp cultivation, cannabis as medicine and a recreational drug, as well as the local legal situation and the topic of legalization.
