Product details
The Monte Carlo Rally, as an international star rally to the Côte d'Azur, initially served as a desperate PR stunt: The Principality of Monaco had lost its allure, and the targeted affluent tourists were not showing up, so the race was intended to attract Europeans to Monaco. The advertising concept worked: The rally started in 1911 with 25-horsepower vintage cars and evolved in the 1960s into perhaps the most popular rally in the world. German winners included Walter Schock, Walter Röhrl, and Isolde Holderied. In 2011, the legendary race celebrated its 100th anniversary with 300-horsepower cars. This book provides an overview of the Monte Carlo Rally.
