Germans prefer sports that involve cycling: one third of the population participates regularly, and nearly half do so occasionally. It's no surprise, as cycling is extremely versatile: there are road and mountain bike races, road, cyclocross, and indoor races, stage and time trials, artistic cycling, cycle ball, or bike polo. However, various doping scandals have caused significant damage to the image of competitive cycling, affecting top German cyclists. This book provides an overview of various cycling sports and races.
