Please note that this title mainly consists of content that is available for free on the internet. Since the turning point in 1989, Gregor Gysi has been a prominent figure in the left-wing political scene. The eloquent lawyer, who represented system critics like Robert Havemann and Bärbel Bohley during the GDR era, was heavily involved politically during the transition period and served as the chairman of the SED-PDS, later PDS, from 1989 to 1993. In 2002, Gysi became the Mayor and Senator for Economy, Labor, and Women of the State of Berlin in the Senate led by Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit. A few months later, he resigned from all offices in connection with the bonus miles scandal. In the 2005 federal election, the lawyer was the top candidate of the Left Party for the Treptow-Köpenick constituency, which he also won. Alongside Oskar Lafontaine, he was recognized as F.
