During a conference on "Jewish Nietzscheanism" in 1995 in Greifswald, Egbert Brieskorn invited me to publish Felix Hausdorff's philosophical writings with an introduction in the edition of his collected works. Felix Hausdorff had closely aligned himself with Nietzsche, and he had received his first chair in mathematics in Greifswald - I spontaneously and, as it soon turned out, rather recklessly said yes. Instead of just writing a short introduction, I soon found myself dealing with lengthy explorations of the work and its commentary. However, the more I delved into Felix Hausdorff's writings, the more they commanded my respect: in their clarity, their integrity, their noble modesty, their intellectual independence, and above all in their remarkable relevance. Perhaps after more than a hundred years, it is now the time.
