Lou Andreas-Salomé, one of the most extraordinary writers of the turn of the century, wrote novels and poems, as well as numerous reviews and scholarly articles. She moved in the artistic circles of her time and engaged in intense exchanges with Nietzsche, Wedekind, Hauptmann, and Rilke.
