Tribute to the Swiss athlete of the 20th century - "Ferdy national" Ferdy Kübler, honored by the Swiss with the title "Ferdy national," was considered one of the greats in cycling alongside Fausto Coppi, Gino Bartali, Louison Bobet, Rik van Steenbergen, and Hugo Koblet from the late 1940s to the mid-1950s. Born in 1919 and raised in poverty in Marthalen, Zurich, Ferdy Kübler knew from a young age that he wanted to become a professional cyclist. In 1938, he won four bike races as a junior and amateur. He turned professional in 1940 and was already the winner of the Tour de Suisse in 1942. He won the Swiss tour again in 1948 and 1951. In 1950, he became the first in the Tour de France, and in 1951, he crowned his career with victory at the Road World Championships in Varese. He also achieved many victories in international competitions.
