Product details
The aim of the book is to provide a communication science description and systematization of the offer-related convergence of television and the internet. To this end, a theoretical analytical framework is developed, and relevant differentiation criteria are derived. An expert survey outlines the relationship between television and the internet and adds distinguishing features from the perspective of content production. An exploratory structural analysis of over 30 video offerings, such as Netflix and YouTube, allows for the dimensioning of their central characteristics and functions. As a core finding, a classification model for convergent video offerings is developed and expanded through a typology.
The content:
- Theoretical analytical framework for capturing offer-related convergence
- Identification and dimensioning of central characteristics
- Integrative classification model and typology of convergent video offerings
The target audiences:
- Educators and students in media and communication studies
- Practitioners in media production and regulation
