This corpus-based collocations dictionary is based on the basic vocabulary of German. Collocations must be distinguished in two ways. On the one hand, they are to be differentiated from word combinations whose co-occurrence is not predetermined in any way. On the other hand, they must be distinguished from figurative (idiomatic) word connections, whose meanings cannot be deciphered literally (for example, "starker Tobak," "kalter Kaffee"). Here, the most important collocations are listed alphabetically; the work, which is based on a research project at the University of Basel, was developed by specialists in phraseology and dictionary work.
