In October 1974, Muhammad Ali embarked on a highly publicized attempt to reclaim his heavyweight boxing championship title, which had been stripped from him seven years earlier due to his refusal of military service and deployment in Vietnam. His opponent was the brutal, undefeated George Foreman, whom he would face in the legendary fight "Rumble in The Jungle" in Zaire, Africa. Just weeks earlier, on August 24 and 25, photographer Peter Angelo Simon had the opportunity to visit Ali and exclusively capture the private life of one of the world's most famous individuals up close, as he mentally and physically prepared for the greatest challenge of his life. This unique photographic documentation reveals the man behind the media facade, showcasing Ali in his retreat in Pennsylvania. It includes a foreword by D. A. Pennebaker, a leading chronicler of the counterculture of the 1960s, and an introduction by Peter Angelo Simon.
