Deep insights into the work and self-understanding of documentary filmmaker Peter Voigt. Peter Voigt learned his craft in the theater, under Bertolt Brecht, Peter Palitzsch, Benno Besson, and Ruth Berghaus. Later, he transitioned to directing at DEFA and documentary filmmaking, where he found his life's calling. It is no coincidence that he was one of the prominent figures of the GDR Film Festival DOK Leipzig, particularly noted for his sensitive portraits. He worked for many years at Walter Heynowski's studio H & S, then at the DEFA Documentary Film Studio, and finally as a freelancer. In doing so, Peter Voigt developed a unique visual language, especially through animation techniques and the montage of photos and texts in film. He completed the film series "Busch sings," contributed to the Marx-Engels Forum in Berlin, and once again drew attention with his later works, films about his mentor Bertolt Brecht.
