The book explains the digital transformation of film distribution in Germany in a clear and competent manner and can be considered a standard introduction to theory and practice. An increasing number of digital market participants are entering existing markets, bringing diversity and innovation to a traditional media sector, while also disrupting long-established structures. The influence of three key players is highlighted: sellers of film exploitation rights, traditional as well as new digital TV platforms. Additionally, their current and future roles, as well as strategic approaches for long-term survival in the market, are examined. The focus is on the TV market in Germany with regard to film distribution, the legal structures and exploitation opportunities, as well as Netflix as a case study. The results of expert interviews and the preceding theoretical concept are also included.
