Product details

A journey through the world of horses. It is better to see something once than to hear and read about it a thousand times. This Mongolian proverb resonates with the author Gabriele Kärcher, who embarks on a journey around the world to explore horses, people, and their multifaceted relationships. What has become of the great equestrian cultures like the Native Americans and Mongolians? Where do wild horses still roam in nature? How do the breeds that have long been "naturalized" in our countries live in their homelands? What stories have special horse people written? What myths and mysteries surround these noble animals? In sensitive texts and captivating photos, Gabriele Kärcher opens eyes and hearts to foreign worlds. She looks behind the scenes, questions prejudices, and shows where we can still learn. She encourages the reader to embark on their own adventure. Many dream destinations are also open to the reader for extraordinary riding holidays. This inspiring picture book is a love letter to the world of horses.

About the author Gabriele Kärcher: Horses have accompanied her throughout her life. From childhood as a passionate rider, as a traveler in the saddle, as an editor, freelance photojournalist, and author. Her passions for horses and travel are both her profession and her calling. For several years, the Crow Indian Reservation in the U.S. state of Montana has been her second home. There, she discovered her special interest in wild horses, as well as the history and culture of Native Americans. Curious about horses, people, and equestrian cultures around the world, she dares to take on the adventure of a two-year expedition to significant horse countries on every continent.
