Information on the articulation of the K sound

The articulation of the consonant K often poses challenges for preschool children. In technical terms, these difficulties in producing the K sound are referred to as "Kappazismus." The K sound is often replaced by T.

Examples:
1. Omissions: Rawatte instead of Krawatte (tie)
2. Sound substitution: Tinderdarten instead of Kindergarten, Trotodil instead of Krokodil (crocodile), Hetse instead of Hexe (witch).
3. Misarticulations: The sound does not sound correct.

Up until the age of 4, this is considered a normal part of language development and is not a cause for concern. It is important that the child is able to distinguish the K sound from other sounds, such as T. By the age of 5, the child should be able to pronounce the sound correctly without errors.
