What happens when architectures are examined like works of art? While the factor of time is processed in different ways in spaces and images – in images, the advantages of simultaneity are mostly utilized, while in spaces, the possibilities of temporal contractions and expansions are explored. In spaces, movement plays a significant role as a generator of time and meaning references. However, in this study, movement is not regarded as a design goal of architecture or a prerequisite for articulated threshold situations, but rather is the basis for an expanded analytical approach: The describer is to take on a dual role. They are to read spaces as image actors and/or as observers, thus describing and evaluating them more intensively. The tension moments observed in this process revitalize space-specific qualities that manifest as architectural historical findings.
