Our culture literally cleared its space in the midst of the forests. And although it has continually altered, cultivated, perverted, and subjected the forests to destruction throughout history, the forest has not lost any of its fascination in the perception and thinking of people to this day. Harrison tells this story with great empathy and shows that our culture is currently in the process of destroying the last remnants of the forests, without which it cannot exist.
