Children are surrounded by history in their everyday lives, whether in the form of buildings and monuments that tell stories or through the passage of time itself, which becomes particularly evident to children through the life stories of relatives. The thematic issue "Children in History" 3/4 provides children with the opportunity to explore selected aspects of childhood in various epochs of human history in a hands-on and independent manner that suits their level and needs. This allows them to compare the living conditions of children from the past with their own, to learn about and critically question different forms of historical sources (textual, visual, and material sources), to identify and chronologically categorize selected periods and eras of history (e.g., the Stone Age, the Middle Ages), and to represent and organize historical events on a timeline.
