Fragments
German, Heraclitus, 2011Product details
Heraclitus, known in antiquity as "the Dark One," is one of the deepest thinkers of Greece. This edition compiles all the fragments attributed to him and aims to make them accessible to today's readers through as faithful a translation as possible. "This order of the world was not created by gods or men, but has always been, is, and will be: an ever-living fire, kindling in measures and extinguishing in measures. The turning of fire: first the sea; of the sea, one half is earth, the other a flaming sky... The sea flows and fulfills its measure according to the same principle that applied before it became earth." B 30, 31.
