Peace appears to us as highly desirable, and we are inclined to deepen and sustain it qualitatively, but also to question it in the face of justice. How can peace be sustainably developed in personal and interpersonal experiences and established as a renewing and stable entity? In this treatise on biblical instructions for peace, alongside the social scientific preparation of the results of peace and conflict research, selected passages from the Old and New Testaments are presented with the intention of granting both reason and faith a guiding interpretative power for the experiential reality of peace.
