What is schizophrenia? How does it manifest? And how do those affected (re)act? From various perspectives, this work addresses the term and metaphor 'schizophrenia', the illness itself, as well as the artistic, literary, and cinematic subject matter and its representation in the media. The authors present concepts of schizophrenia, provide insights into the history of psychiatry, and illuminate psychiatric-philosophical aspects, such as the recognition and understanding of schizophrenic-psychotic experiences and forms of expression. However, in accordance with the title of the book, its focus lies in the exploration of images of schizophrenia as conveyed through the artistic works of psychotic artists.
