Product details
Translation always implies having understood. Understanding the source text is an independent prerequisite for translation processes: translators necessarily interpret the text they wish to translate. In creating their translated texts, they make consequential decisions. These decisions particularly impact the understanding and interpretation levels of culture. This translation critique addresses this question and connects it to the expectation of finding the various interests that play a text-relevant role in the translation process reflected in the target text. Methodologically, the work focuses on coherence and its structures in both the source and target texts. By contrasting them, the decisions of the translators and their reasons become transparent, thus understandable and evaluable.
