Product details
The diatopic variation in the German legal languages has so far been little systematically addressed. This volume contributes to closing this gap by discussing the topic from a linguistic-terminological perspective. It considers the legal languages of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol, East Belgium, as well as the German legal language of the European Union; additionally, regional variants that are also codified in legal documents to a lesser extent are included. The publication aims to draw attention to the generally overlooked diversity of variants in the German legal languages, which is often neglected in translation and academic practice. Thus, the volume is aimed equally at linguists and legal scholars as well as translators and interpreters.
