The work addresses the development of constitutional court structures in Germany before the establishment of the Federal Constitutional Court during the core phase of German constitutional history, starting from the era shaped by the monarchical principle after the Congress of Vienna in 1815 until the end of the Weimar Republic in 1933. It illustrates the gradual development towards a modern constitutional jurisdiction in stages, using selected constitutional conflicts, judicial decisions on key issues of constitutional law, and an assessment of contemporary constitutional law scholarship.
