Product details
Informal science communication, which includes direct exchanges among scientists, is an important component of the scientific system. Due to ongoing internationalization, its actors are increasingly required to establish international contacts. In addition to classic internet technologies, such as email and online discussion groups, applications of Web 2.0 in particular offer potentials that meet this necessity. The book examines the influence of social software (specifically blogs and social networking sites) on informal science communication. Similarities and peculiarities of certain scientific groups are illustrated through a country comparison between Germany and Bulgaria, as well as a discipline comparison between the social sciences and the humanities.
