Michael Scholz-Hänsel was a university assistant in Marburg from 1987 to 1993 and now teaches art history as a private lecturer at the University of Leipzig. He is the author of numerous publications on the Ibero-American world, including monographs on El Greco, the Escorial Library, and Jusepe de Ribera. Additionally, he is a co-founder of the 'Carl Justi Association e.V.', for which he has been organizing international congresses and exhibitions since 1989, including 'From Reform to Avant-Garde' at the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid in 1999 and 'Spain in the Photobook' at the Instituto Cervantes in Berlin in 2008.
