Product details

Body language is attributed more truthfulness than our verbal expressions, as it eludes our conscious control and thus has a more immediate effect. Since the 1970s, the significance of body language in interpersonal communication has been the subject of linguistic and semiotic research. While its use in life situations has been extensively studied, its impact in photography has received little attention so far. This book examines the importance of body language in the photographs of journalistic print media, specifically in the Italian Corriere della Sera. It particularly focuses on the relationship between the nonverbal messages of the images and the corresponding headlines and captions. The role of photographed body language as an additional medium of information transmission in the journalistic context is also relevant.
