All texts mentioned in the worship service are considered "today." Especially for church hymns, this contemporary relevance must be established through interpretation. To interpret means not to leave the texts in their historical context, but to transfer the understanding of earlier religiosity into today's thinking and speaking. In this transfer, the interpreter must take seriously what the old texts intend to convey. Only then can a dialogue between the interpreter and the texts begin. The sermons printed in this volume are an attempt to initiate such a dialogue.
