Paranormal experiences and the so-called supernatural have fascinated people throughout all times and cultures. In tribal societies, the career of the shaman is based on the paranormal. The same is true for healers, poets, magicians, and rainmakers. However, the experiences of other individuals also fall into this epistemic category. Erich Kolig presents aspects of the culture and mythological experience of the Australian Aborigines, as well as selected narratives from Northwest Australia that describe the mysterious experiences of the Aborigines in remarkable detail, raising questions that remain unanswered by science to this day. His particular focus is on the cultural phenomenon of Maban, which is still full of mysteries.
