Elizaveta Kuz'mina-Karavaeva (1891-1945) was a guest in the intellectual circles of St. Petersburg during the 1910s. She was one of the founding members of the "Poets' Guild" and was personally acquainted with poets of the Silver Age such as Aleksandr Blok, Nikolaj Gumilëv, and Anna Akhmatova. The focus of the first German-language monograph on Kuz'mina-Karavaeva is on the early poetic works of the later Mother Maria, who was actively involved in promoting the Orthodox faith during her exile in France and died in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. This book is dedicated to the poetry collection "Scythian Fragments," published in 1912; it includes the original text and translations, supplemented by an essay, a literary scholarly contribution, and biographical information about the poetess.
