This volume brings together theoretical, practical, and didactic contributions to a pragmatic-semiotic style concept developed by the author during her many years of research and teaching. A selection was made from an extensive publication list that provides a comprehensive picture of the author's overall work in stylistics. Thus, a handbook has emerged that includes both the theory and practice of stylistics as well as its connections to neighboring disciplines. The book is aimed not only at professionals but also at language-interested laypeople whose interest in style and stylistics is shaped by everyday experiences with texts. The book is published on the occasion of Ulla Fix's 65th birthday. The editors, Irmhild Barz, Hannelore Poethe, and Gabriele Yos, have a long-standing collegial collaboration with Ulla Fix.
