Lucian Blaga (1895-1961) is considered one of the most significant Romanian philosophers of the 20th century. After earning his doctorate in Vienna in 1920, he worked as an editor and diplomat, later becoming a professor of cultural philosophy at the University of Cluj-Napoca. After World War II, he fell out of favor with the communists and subsequently worked as a librarian. His work 'On Philosophical Consciousness' serves as an introduction to philosophy, which he delineates as a distinct field of science and art. Blaga emphasizes the importance of metaphysics, which he sees as the main task of philosophy.
