Product details

Frei.Wild provokes and polarizes public opinion like no other German-speaking band, yet few are currently as successful. Klaus Farin not only met with the four musicians repeatedly over two years, accompanied them on tour, and visited them at home in South Tyrol, but he also surveyed more than 4,000 fans of the band, spoke with historians and musicologists, engaged with 59 other German rock bands, and many other artists and critics of Frei.Wild, as well as conducted biographical interviews with relatives and former members of the far-right scene, among other topics related to the role of music in the right-wing scene. Thus, this book has become not only a band biography but also one of the largest fan studies, a discussion of the newly awakened regionalism in Europe, and an exploration of the impact and significance of music, along with media representations and prejudices.
