Product details
The Eagle of the Ninth Legion, published in London in 1954, is one of the most well-known and beloved books by the English master of historical youth novels, with over a million copies sold worldwide. Around the year 117 AD, the Ninth Legion of the Roman army marched into the mist in northern Britain and was never seen again. Four thousand men disappeared without a trace, along with their famous standard featuring the eagle. Roman centurion Marcus wants to find out what happened to his father, who led the Ninth Legion. Thus, he sets off into the unknown on a quest so perilous that no one believes he will ever return. The film adaptation of Rosemary Sutcliff's great novel, starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland, and Mark Strong, was released in German cinemas in March 2011.
