Goethe has withstood every form of alienation so far - from that of the Romantics or the Biedermeier period to that of the Wilhelminian or National Socialist era. This is partly due to the germinal, open, and never-finished character of his work, which will continue to be available to us even in times of narrowing particularism. The contributions in this volume explore the germinal, evolving Goethe. Wolfgang Schad demonstrates the fruitful impulses of Goethe's thoughts for various cultural and scientific fields, such as botany, evolutionary biology, pedagogy, and psychology. Through the works of Rudolf Steiner, a new approach to Goethe and his way of observing nature is revealed.
