The Anatolian Alevis are considered, alongside Sunnis and Shiites, another significant group within Islam. However, it is disputed even among members whether they represent an Islamic grouping or an independent religious community. In Germany, there are about 500,000 members who are referred to as "moderate Muslims" or "secularized Muslims." Timo Güzelmansur examines the belief system of the Anatolian Alevis from a Christian perspective for the first time, focusing on the numerous apparent parallels between Alevism and Christianity. Furthermore, he explores whether there has been an exchange between the two religious communities or an influence of Christianity on Anatolian Alevism.
