Product details

The present book contains a variety of practical suggestions on how to make biblical stories accessible and experiential for people with high support needs. In diaconal institutions with a connection to religion, there is a cultural influence from worship services and daily devotions. The experiences gained from these settings are the focus of this book, which seeks to make them representable, experiential, and tangible through sensory and meaningful offerings. A clearly structured and education-oriented approach for groups led to the development of the so-called 'Feel It' concept. The biblical narratives are enhanced with selected music and illustrative objects, sounds, and scents. This makes them tangible, audible, fragrant, visible, and touchable—thus engaging all our senses. Six of the most well-known Bible stories are first quoted, followed by a clear material list of the supplementary effects. The stories are simplified in a clear and chronologically organized narrative framework for the 'Feel It' concept. This allows for easy identification of when each text should be spoken or which effects should be used. Following this, the stories are translated into easy language. This translation has been scientifically reviewed by the research center for easy language. Participants feel that their presence, involvement, and empathy are meaningful—thus they become part of the event and this community.
