Product details

Christoph Trüke demonstrates that the human mind is a paradox: shaped by gender yet independent of it. Using key cultural and historical junctions as examples, he shows that despite all gender-neutral relationships between concept and reality, even the most abstract philosophical concepts express the current state of the gender struggle. The emergence of matriarchy and patriarchy, the transition from mythical to conceptual thinking, Plato's theory of ideas, the Christian notion of the Trinity, and the Inquisition are identified as stages of thought that are simultaneously phases of a power struggle. A power struggle in which ultimately both genders succumb to the rule of capital.

Christoph Trüke, born in 1948, is a retired professor of philosophy at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and the author of numerous books. He has been awarded the Sigmund Freud Culture Prize. His works published by zu Klampen include "Mediation as God" (1986, 1994), "Perspectives of Critical Theory" (1988), "On the Ideological Critical Potential of Theology" (1990), "Holy Whore Reason" (1991), "The New Activity" (1992), "Violence and Taboo" (1992), "Religious Turn" (1995), "Financial Statement" (1997, 2011), "The Madman. Nietzsche and the Madness of Reason" (1999, 2014), "Sexus and Spirit" (2001, 2014), "Fundamentalism - Masked Nihilism" (2003), "Homeland. A Rehabilitation" (2006), "Jesus' Dream.
