The Ahr Valley from above showcases for the first time in current oblique aerial photographs the entire course of the Ahr River from its sources in Blankenheim to its confluence with the Rhine at Remagen-Kripp. This bird's-eye view uniquely reveals the diversity of landscapes from the Eifel heights to the Golden Mile. The images document a fascinating cultural landscape and its transformation in one of the most beautiful side valleys of the Rhine. Countless friends of the Ahr Valley from both near and far, as well as all who call this place home, are warmly invited to this genuine excursion. Both authors have long-standing ties to the Ahr Valley: Andreas Schmickler, a graphic designer, has taken most of the aerial photographs, which are contextualized and commented on by Dr. Jürgen Haffke, a historical geographer.
