Some theories of Transactional Analysis (TA) presented in this book differ from the currently accepted TA theories. This is intentional. I have simplified without contradicting Eric Berne and later theorists, in order to make TA more understandable and useful for those who are not yet familiar with Transactional Analysis. Readers who wish to learn more about traditional TA theories and how they differ from the concepts presented here may refer to the bibliography at the end of the book. Eric Berne himself believed in the simplicity of his theory, and in this spirit, I modified the traditional teachings to achieve something that yields good results for me and my clients. I have found that some TA concepts are overloaded and confusing for the layperson. This book reflects that.
