Permanent change has become a defining characteristic of business practice. Companies that focus on greater employee participation are best equipped to manage this change. The authors of this volume – both researchers and business practitioners – explore the conditions necessary for a participation-oriented corporate culture and how this impacts the success of companies. Results from the project "TiM - Transfer of Innovative Business Environments," funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, are presented. The aim was to examine the corporate culture in nine companies as well as the interplay between material and immaterial forms of employee participation within these companies. It is demonstrated that companies with a participation-oriented corporate culture are more successful.
