Daniel Pauw examines for the first time in an international study how coaches establish and maintain a sustainable working relationship with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. The results show that cultural influences can affect the coaching process in various ways and highlight which factors are particularly important for successful relationship building. The integration of these findings with insights from intercultural communication and therapy research not only enriches current coaching research with an intercultural perspective but also provides practitioners with concrete recommendations for effectively managing cultural diversity. This work was awarded the Erdinger Coaching Prize in 2016.
