Markus Riegler describes the relevant content of the Network Code on Electricity Balancing for operational process design and, based on this, develops two different process landscapes. The author examines how these requirements can be most efficiently integrated into the process structures of European transmission system operators. In the first draft, tasks remain within the responsibility of the transmission system operators as much as possible. The second draft outlines a scenario in which as many tasks as possible are delegated to central European entities. Finally, the two process landscapes are compared to determine the effort required for the design variants.
