Product details
Helen Niemann develops a procedural model for the use of business process patents in corporate foresight, particularly for the automotive industry. The presented methodology allows for the derivation of meaningful, implementation-oriented, and well-founded forecasts of future business by tracing, visualizing, and analyzing the development of business process patents. Business process patents have proven to be a suitable information source for systematic foresight, enabling the identification of both known and new developments in automotive business models. White spots in the patent landscape become apparent; however, there is no information advantage over traditional sources. The benefits lie in the relatively low effort of the methodology and the level of detail in the results.
