The aim of this volume is to address current issues related to the changing conditions in the startup landscape and to highlight the potentials and tensions involved in implementing a business startup through the use of crowdsourcing mechanisms. The contributions include not only theoretical foundational knowledge and concepts of crowdsourcing but also novel insights from the practice of crowd entrepreneurship. They provide a direct glimpse into the real transformation of the startup process due to crowdsourcing and, together with the conceptual approaches, deepen the understanding of crowdsourcing and its subforms: crowd innovation, crowdworking, and crowdinvesting.
