In this work, Timo Reuter explains why the unconditional basic income (UBI) can be considered just within the context of liberal concepts. The author demonstrates why the UBI is not only compatible with the liberal notion of freedom but also enables a true freedom beyond neoliberal ideas through the material foundation it provides. Furthermore, it is outlined why the UBI is indeed compatible with the concept of performance and that it promotes equal opportunities as well as resource justice. Finally, social, psychological, humanistic, and financial considerations regarding the UBI show that it is more than just a utopia: it is a concrete vision for a freer and fairer society.
