The author examines the transformation of French reform policy in the labor market and social sector between 2007 and 2015 from a historically materialist theoretical perspective, within the context of the European economic crisis. The focus of the book is on the conflicts associated with reform policy at both the national and European levels. Special attention is given to the European dimension in national reform policy, emphasizing the connection between the nation-state and the transnationalization of statehood and production. The author demonstrates that since the outbreak of the crisis in Europe, the socio-political framework for shaping labor market and social policy in the EU has fundamentally changed.
